Introduction to my webpages

Late 2007 website updates are happening now. CSS is largely in place and should be compliant. Now I'm focusing on tightening up my sloppy HTML coding and fixing all pages to pass HTML 4.01 Strict validation. Not terribly exciting, but it will help me get used to coding pages more accurately.

As always, nothing overly fancy generally occurs on the www.mind.org website, but I do use it to polish techniques before I get fancy elsewhere. I do rather like the tree structure on my updated resume, though.

The current CSS coloring for the website is still black. Being CSS means that any update will flow through the website all at once now. All of my personal pages as well as the front page have long since been converted to the CSS format. You will no longer find any of my older pages online.

What will you find here?

Recruiters.. Please take note of these little factoids:

  • Don't offer me some silly job for a third of my current salary.
  • No I don't want to take a 50% pay cut to be a system admin. Puh-leeze.
  • Don't expect me to take a contract job in some far off place.
  • Tell me what you want. Be specific. I get lots of calls & email.
  • If you're vague, don't expect to hear back from me at all.
  • If it says "Unknown Caller" I'm not going to answer it.
  • I'm a father and I'm not going to take a travelling job.
  • Emory. Been here over 20 years now. Nuf said.
  • I do pass opportunities on to other people. Sometimes.

In late 2006 I took on the role of Team Leader for the Architecture group. As of early 2007, I was the Manager of the Architecture / Research & Development group in the Network Communications division of Emory University. I am currently the Manager of Architecture & Security for UTS at Emory University. From 2001 through 2006 I was a Communications Architect in the same division. Before the merger, I was the Network Architect for Emory Healthcare. December 2010 will mark my 22 year anniversary with Emory. These days I still do some research, design, standards writing, and projects, but I am focusing more on presentations, coordination, and building more of my coworkers into the new network experts that Emory needs. I still do the occassional tier 3 network support and the odd real-world task. All in all its not a bad way to make a living.
