Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games
City of Heroes/Villains
City of Heroes (and its flipside, City of Villains) is my current game of
choice. I really love flying around, saving the day, and wearing brightly
colored spandex. No, I mean in game - not at my computer desk. No really.
Don't make me come over there.
I play exclusively on the Freedom server. I currently have characters scattered
around in <Balance of Chaos>,
<Chaotic Balance>, and my personal supergroup
<Family of Superheroes>. A few are unguilded.
My stable currently consists of 8 superheroes and 2 supervillains.

World of Warcraft
Relenting to the pressures of old <FOAM> members, I started playing
World of Warcraft several months ago. Since that time my daughter and wife
have also started playing it. I now only play occasionally, preferring to
spend my limited playtime in CoH/CoV, but I still maintain my account and
play when the mood strikes me or "my FOAMies" decided to actually
do something.. I have one horde character on Whisperwind, but mostly I play
Alliance on Silvermoon.
My toons on Silvermoon are either unguilded or members of <FOAM>.
- Kilvari - 60 Human Rogue (300 Goblin Engineer)
- Lunel - 52 Dwarf Hunter (300 Dragonscale Leatherworker)
- Kerblam - 26 Gnome Mage (225 Tailor, 225 Enchanter)
World of Warcraft managed to pry me away from CoH for several months, but
ultimately failed to hold my attention. I still play it, but its now just
an occassional game, not my main game.
EverQuest II
I only played EQ2 for a few months, partially overlapping with my EverQuest
playtime. While the graphics game engine is quite visually stunning, the game
simplified older EQ1 style game play too much for my liking, content felt
very unbalanced, and the tradeskill system was insanity.
Nevertheless I played the game for several months and did manage to have some
fun. For the very first time ever, a character named Kilvari managed to reach
the rank of Paladin. That's a redemption for the family name and the full
story of that goes back well over 2 decades to my mid-teens. One day I'll share
it.
EverQuest
I haven't played EverQuest in several years now. It was a great game for many
years and my first real MMORPG. I miss the people I played with a lot more
than the actual game itself. While its not entirely beyond the realm of
possibility that I'd reactive my account, its pretty damn unlikely at this
point. Consider me retired.
I played pretty much exclusively on Tholuxe Paells (now absorbed into the
Bertox server) and all of my characters were members of <Chaotic
Balance>.
My better known characters were:
-
Kilvari
- 65 Wood Elf Rogue
-
Rizok
- 65 Dwarf Cleric
-
Kroke
- 65 Froglok Wizard
-
Durn
- 53 Dwarf Paladin
- Gnek - 51 Gnome Necromancer
<Chaotic Balance>
Chaotic Balance was my very first MMORPG guild and I still try to keep in
touch with members even to this day. I am still running CB's website as well.
It was Chaotic Balance that kept me in EverQuest far longer than I would have
ever believed possible and ultimately led me to both EQ2 and City of Heroes.
A lot of great people have passed through the guild, moving on to high-end
raiding guilds or other games and many of them still keep in touch. That's
the great thing about CB's family environment and why I still consider myself
to be friends with many of its members even today.
I wonder what the next big MMORPG will be..
